Recently, the National Insulation Contractors’ Exchange enlisted The Jakes Group to design a logo for their 25th anniversary. We feel that anniversaries offer organizations the opportunity to highlight their achievements and focus on the attributes for which they want to be known. We sought to create a logo that helped to reflect where they’ve been as well as the direction they are going.
QUESTION
In 2020, The Jakes Group designed and launched a new website for the National Insulation Contractors’ Exchange (NICE). As part of the rollout, we introduced a new secondary color palette for the association. As NICE looked ahead to their 25th anniversary, they sought to incorporate these new colors and updated look into a distinct logo.
Celebrating and commemorating an anniversary or milestone gives organizations the chance to focus on their experience and achievements. For associations specifically, it allows them to bring together members and to help them feel connected with part of something big. It was our aim to evoke a sense of pride among membership through this logo design.
CREATE
While many would assume that the number of years would be the main focus of an anniversary logo, we sought to make the new complementary colors more prominent as well. Additionally, we created versions with “25 Years of Leadership” as a tagline to help position NICE as a network of industry leaders. The NICE team selected the following design among several options presented to them.

“My inspiration for this logo came from a color wheel; I wanted to have all of the colors merging together to create the logo itself. These new colors were coming together to represent the unity of the organization and who they want to evolve into as they continue to grow. I like how it has a sleek and innovative feel about it. I feel like this logo gives you the feeling of moving forward into the future.”
ACTIVATE
This logo has inspired a series of designs to be implemented in communications and collateral throughout the anniversary year. Incorporating a unique tagline has given the organization an opportunity to expound upon what they want to be known for as well (for example,“25 years of Innovation,” “25 years of Integrity,” etc.). The NICE team chose a versatile look that can be used in various capacities to help the organization position itself as an experienced leader in the industry.
