About Our Founder: Laura Jakes

Laura Jakes has been part of the advertising scene in Northwest Ohio for many years. She received a BA in graphic design with a minor in marketing from Bowling Green State University. After decades of skill building and moving up the ad agency ranks as both an art and creative director, Laura decided to use the best of what she had gained from her experiences to forge her own path. She began LJ Creates in 2010, and it has grown into The Jakes Group—a full team of account managers, creatives, and strategic talent. Laura has won numerous Addy awards, Crystal awards and health care advertising awards during her career. In addition to leading the agency, Laura serves the local community she loves as president of the Sylvania Arts Commission.

Meet Our Strategy Partner: Brian Tipping

Brian joined The Jakes Group in 2019, bringing over two decades of proven marketing leadership experience to the team. Throughout his career, Brian has contributed to brand strategy development and campaigns for many world-class and regional brands, including Johnson & Johnson, La-Z-Boy, Chevrolet, Owens Corning, Blue Cross Blue Shield, The Smithsonian, DirecTV, Princess Cruises, Mercy Health, Delta Faucet, Marco’s Pizza, and Dollywood. Brian also has rich experience designing and implementing marketing strategies for decentralized sales organizations and franchises; notably, he has held marketing and research leadership positions with Little Caesar’s Pizza (International), Domino’s Pizza, and Herschend Family Entertainment, the nation’s largest family-owned themed attractions corporation with tourism and hospitality properties spanning 23 locations in six states.
